We had a horrible rainstorm today and found one of the walls in our basement leaking. There is a crack that looks like it was covered over by the previous owners. It's a constant flow of water down the wall. Every company I'm looking at in the yellow pages to repair this talks about Epoxy Injections. Can you tell me what this is and if it's any good??
Thanks for your help - Teresa

If your basement wall is leaking, you want to seal it once, and not worry about it again. Epoxy injection does not work. Besides, most likely, the contractor will want to dig the crack out--no need to do that. Second, if you use a special cement to repair the crack, know that cement does not bond to cement. You will then have a cold joint where the patch is, allowing flow of water through. Thirdly, is you use asphalt to fill in the crack and try to coat over it, know that nothing bonds to asphalt. The tar in the asphalt rejects any kind of bond of whatever is applied. I am in the waterproofing business, and do all of my applications with the Sanitred products. I have found these products to be the best, and I can give my customers a lifetime warranty. I hope this helps in your research of repairing your basement problems.
