I need help with how to repair a load bearing post, which is one of several supporting a carport roof. The post, which is a pressure treated 8ft tall 6X8 has a gouged corner that is about 7 inches long. vertically, and about 1 inch deep.
Does the post need to be repalced, or could I patch it with pieces of pressure treated lumber matched to a cleanly gouged area.
