I am a first time home buyer, quite new to the whole experience (been looking for about a year and a half).
The house that we are currently looking at is everything my husband and I have been looking for. The only issue is that during the home inspection, the inspector found that part of the wall facing the hillside, and the adjoining wall to the left is bowed (roughly an inch and a half bowing).
The home inspector suggests that if we do get the house, that we should install 4 inch I-beams and angle iron against the wall from the basement floor and attaching to the floor joists.
We are unsure of how long the walls have been bowed like this, although there is paint in the crack along the wall.
Would the instillation of I-beams and angle iron be a good option for this issue? What other options are available?

-Confused!

Yes, beams would work. You need to make sure they are 13 pound Steel "H" beams. Or you can use Carbon Fiber which is a better repair. You can check out Rhinocarbonfiber.com

To be on the safe side I would recommend a structural engineer.

You need to determine if this is a hill top slide causing rotation of foundation, a lateral load from the soil pressure or settlement. All of which are very different in costs and repair methods.

Options for bowed foundation walls: I-Beams, Tie-Backs and Carbon Fiber Reinforcement all can be effective in the proper application.
