We are considering purchasing a home which has had problems with water in the basement in the past. The problem was so severe that it left significant cracks in the basement floor, thoroughly rusted several steel posts (lally posts) and left other signs of damage (efflorence throughout basement) etc.
Seller tells us problem has been corrected as french drains were installed a couple of months ago. Also there are 2 sump pumps in basement. There has been significant snowfall in the past few weeks along with a two significant rainfalls.
The home inspection was conducted last week and there was not any visible water from recent snows and rain.
Yet, I am told there is a very high water table at this property. Further, I am concerned that past problems might mean more in the future.
Do you have any recommendations as to who I can speak with or have look at the propoperty, etc?
Thank you!!
