A waterproofing contractor installed a french drain in my monolithic pour basement , they evidently throughout the whole perimeter took out 12 inches out from the block to the floor , they claim they only took out a small wedge , and that it could be reinstalled using epoxy and dowels at my expense , my structural engineer dismissed at that notion and said my foundation is undermined and now needs to be underpinned , its evident they took out more than they claim ,

is it not true that a french drain should never be installed in a monolithic basement , or is it that the footings should have never been cut and a different approach used , I am in a lengthy not going anywhere process trying to collect from the contractors liability insurance , it should be a clear cut case of negligence? any thoughts or comments would be appreciated

Usually a monolithic slab should have an exterior draintile system or an on the floor system installed.

Yes you can re-attach the footer to the slab by grouting and doweling.
