I'm looking for suggestions on how best and what products to use to water proof my foundation. We are going to be bricking the front of our house and since I will have my foundation exposed down to original footer (if any). This would be a perfect time to take care of the water problem I have on that particular wall. The foundation was probably built in the late 40’s or 50’s guessing by the look of the concrete. I will be down to the footer so that I can pour a footer to support my brick so I would like to water-proof the old wall and the new 4” block wall that will come up to support my brick. Thanks for any help.

Water repellent coatings can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed on, depending on the size of the surface to be treated. For either water- or solvent-based coating, you will definitely need a paintbrush for painting around the edges (called cutting-in). If you're rolling the coating on, use a synthetic roller cover (use a long-napped one for rough surfaces) and a roller pan. Spraying requires low-pressure (20 psi) spray equipment with a stainless-steel, fan-tip nozzle. You will also need plastic drop clothes to protect adjacent surfaces and landscaping. Be sure to wear eye protection and rubber gloves when applying the product.
