We live in a condo (shared walls with neighbors). During the heavy rains here in August, one of the neighbors we share a wall with experienced water leaking into his basement. He claims it was the crack in *our* cement patio that permitted the water to enter his basement.

What kind of professional should we consult - we'd like someone to look at our patio and current drainage behind our condo (as well as our neighbors) and advise if it is even possible that the crack in our patio caused the water leakage.

Thank you for any advice/direction.

In Michigan you have several Certified Waterproofing Professionals.

This sounds like a standard problem with common walls. Due to the outside load the wall cracks in between the common wall which acts as a pillar. The water will run in the direction of pitch of the floor. Your neighbor's floor is sloped more than yours.

The crack in the patio would be irrelevant if there were no crack in the foundation to allow water to enter.

Search under Members, then MI to find contractor in your area.
