I've had a few waterproofing contractors out for a moisture problem, and they've each recommended interior drainage tile. Since this work means I'll need extensive repairs on the inside of my home, I've had several general contractors come in to my home and tell me I am making a mistake going with this interior solution. They've said that opening the floor and repouring concrete without rebar means that my floor will no longer be stable and solid, and that I am looking forward to needing my entire floor removed and repoured in some years. I don't know who to believe anymore. Please help.

As a Basement Waterproofing contractor for over 25 years I must say that what the GC's are saying is not correct. My company has installed over 30,000 interior drainage systems and we have never had a problem with a basement floor. Keep in mind, in most cases you could remove a complete basement slab and it would never affect the structure of your basement walls or floor. (there are many homes that are standing with no basement slab just a dirt floor- so don't be afraid to have someone do an interior system as they really are the best solution because you can maintain them whereas an outside excavation cannot be maintained without excavating again. Also an interior system usually is much less expensive.

Hope this helps.
