My 25-year-old house sits on a rise some distance from a stream. During two recent floods, an inch or so of water appeared in my basement. It apparently came up out of a hairline crack that runs across the basement floor, so I'm guessing the water table rose through the crack. Can such a crack be repaired? Thanks for any advice on this matter.

Yes the crack itself can be sealed or injected, but usually the water will push or move to the next weakest point like between the wall and floor.

Water seeks a level you can not force 10 oz of water into an 8 oz glass. Water will not compress. Usuall a water relief system is necessary to handle the excesss water pressure, such as draintiles under the floor.
