My fiance and I recently put in an offer on older home in south east Wisconsin. It is an older home on a hill, about 50-60 years old. We have a house inpection done and the inspector reccommend that we have a basement/foundation specialist due an inspection of the basement. There are some cracks in the walls and one wall has been pitched over 1 in. The foudation specialist found that more work needs to be done. I guess 14 years ago this wall was reinfored from the exterior and the wall is still not fixed. The specialist recommened that this wall be reinfored from the interior, about $4,500 worth of work. What my question is, if this new work is done by the seller do you see this being a problem in the future. This house is our "starter" house and we wish to resell it within 5-8 years. Would it be OK/safe to buy this house, we really like but are skeptical about the major work having to be done on the basement. Any input or advise would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks!
