I have had several waterproofing contractors out and they have all given me different stories. Can anyone out there recommend Aquaguard or Trotter or everdry? Here is the situation.. We appear to have some water/moisture coming through the walls. We have an old, metal french & gravity drain inside that seems to be helping the walls. Some have said we need exterior work done (j-drainage) while others have said no-not necessary. What is going on? Help me out if you can! Feel like I am being sold stuff instead of what I need. THank you.

This is a standard and ongoing debate: Exterior vs Interior Waterproofing

The industry has long stayed away from specs and standards because individual systems all work. The question is what is the desired results that you want to achieve? An interior system will stop water from running on the floor, it does not stop all moisture inside the wall.

Total excavation down to footer and installation of exterior drains and sealing walls is not always accessable due to additions, decking, landscaping etc.

Foundations are designed to hold up buildings and were not designed to be wonderful living space. With several finishing systems that are available today, they can give added reassurance from the moisture.

Ultimately you will need to weigh the costs, landscaping, future use and resale, and apply that to determining the best system for your individual foundation.

For your basement wall to be dry for lifetime you need waterproofing on out side of basement walls
