Hi. I bought my townhouse from a developer (it was a conversion). To make a very long story short, the unit tested positive for mold, the drywall was removed from one wall (both the upstairs and downstairs drywall) and when the walls were open, I noticed that water was leaking in from the exterior wall when it rained. This exterior wall consists of nothing more than stucco over wire lathing. In certain spots, I could actually see daylight through the wall (the mold contractors caulked many of these spots as a temporary fix). There is a diverter on the roof that continously dumps water directly into that wall whenever it rains which I believe was at least partially to blame for the leakage. A structural waterproofing company has been out several times patching and painting with sealant but the leak persists. I was (confidentially) told that because the wire lathing was rusted out that it would always be a problem and that the only way to truly fix the problem would be to knock the wall down and rebuild (which, of course, the developer does not want to do). Is this the only way or are there other ways to fix the problem? Any information anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
