Structural damage

We just bought a house and found out that there is a beam under that house that is rotting. How hard would that be to fix?

Bracing would be installed on both sides of beam and then the beam removed. Possibly need to pour new pads and install new stantions as well.

The bigger question is what caused the beam to rot. Improper venting? Standing water? The cause should be determined and addressed to prevent reacurance.
