Hi, I am new to homeownership and hope that someone out there can help me. I have a home with a stone foundation (which forms the basement walls) and one area of the stone foundation wall seems to leak from top down. Two contractors have proposed different methods for dealing with the situation. Contractor One proposed interior drains and a sump pump; Contractor Two proposed excavating the outside of the foundation and applying waterproofing. Contractor Two's theory is that continued seepage, as the first solution will permit, will weaken the foundation wall. Any thoughts on which is the better solution?
