I just had a 4 Flat Apartment unit inspected in Chicago. The building if frame, was built in 1880. We found problems in the basement. Most of the beams were either rotted, from water, or eaten away by termites.
The inspector recommende jacking the house up and having these beams replaced. Will this fix the sagging floors as well ?
Is this an accectable solution ? What else should we watch out for.
